Initially all HM-5 hive monitors are identified by their serial number.  It is possible, however, to set a custom name to your hive monitor - one that might match your hive's name or characteristic or location.  For example, instead of a number such as "20000899" you might want to identify that hive monitor as "Hive #3" or "Celine's Hive" or "Hive at Dad's Place".

To add such a name to the Customer Field on the Android app please follow the directions steps 1 to 6 below:

To change from a serial number to another name on the Android app, check steps 7 to 9 on changing the Device Name below:

1.) Open the Android app to the Monitor list.  Tap on the monitor you'd like to name.

2.) Select Edit Device Info

3.) In the space labeled "Customer Field", enter your preferred name for that Hive Monitor.  For the moment, leave the "Device Name" the same.

4.) Press the blue button on the bottom.

5.) Upload Data to the Cloud

6.) On the Web App, you will see the Customer Field.

7.) In order to change the name of the hive on the Monitor List from the Serial Number to a different name, change the Device Name.

8.) Press the Blue button at the bottom of the screen to save the Device Name.

9.) The hive monitor will now show the Device Name on the Monitor List.

The Device Name will not automatically change the name of the monitor on the Web App upon uploading.  It can be changed directly in the Web App.

Hint: If you change the Device Name, you may want to keep the Customer Field as the serial number in order not to lose track of the original serial number.
