You can tare (also called "setting zero") the HM-5 using the Android app. Just follow these steps:
1.) Tap the monitor you are using and select Live Data from the list of options.
2.) With the monitor without any load on it, first perform a Live Data read by placing the phone next to the module.
3.) Now, tap on the red "0.0" button to perform the tare.
3.) The app will ask you to confirm if you would like to tare.
Do not tare the HM-5 with the full hive on it! The HM-5 should be tared only without the hive on it. Or, some do prefer to tare it with some basic empty equipment on it. Just be aware that tareing with the hive is a no-no and will probably require the hive to be removed and the HM-5 tared again!
4.) With the HM-5 tared, simply go back to the monitor screen by pressing the "back" or left triangle button.
