In most cases, you will want to have the HM-6 upload the data to the cloud directly.  For that, you need to set up the HM-6 so that it knows what router to send the data to and its password.  This router setup procedure is described in this other article.

There are some cases where you will not want to or cannot upload to a router.  Those cases include situations where the HM-6 is located too far from a router or in very remote locations where there is no cellular connectivity and the HiveHub™ cannot be installed.  In these cases, you will want to do a manual reading, i.e. download the data to a smartphone first - and then upload the data from the smartphone to the cloud when you get to a location where there is Internet connectivity on your phone.

The following video shows the manual reading of an HM-6 by a Moto X4 and a Samsung smartphone.

To take a manual reading of the HM-6 with your Android, do the following:

1. Go to the Monitor List (example below).

2. Place the back of the phone up against the HM-6 electronic module.  Depending on the phone, you may need to move the phone slightly in order to find the best NFC transmission position.  The reading will take at the most 4 seconds.

3. When the reading is finished, the Android will display the following screen.

There may also be a Upload Data option if the Automatic Upload setting is not set on in the Application Settings.

4. If you have set B-Ware for manual uploads, you may upload now (or later).  If set for automatic upload, it will upload the data to the cloud immediately after reading the monitor.  A running status of the cloud upload is shown - below is an example:

Once the upload is finished, a green checkmark will appear on the top right corner of the tile of the monitor whose data was uploaded.

Note: In addition to downloading data, every Android reading synchronizes the Android smartphone time with the time in the HM-6 if set to do so in Settings (recommended).
